don’t make everything up yourself.

There is no need to make everything up yourself. Why not learn from mistakes and successes that have already been made by others seeking to follow Jesus into church planting? The Harbor/Base Network has a growing library of church planting resources on a number of topics. Below is a sampling of some of those resources. How to Plant a %%Church Slide Deck%%

Church planting can be one of the most confusing and challenging vocations out there. There are a thousand reasons for something to not go as “planned” and church planting has a special ability to facilitate various types of nervous breakdowns. We don’t want that for you. Here’s a 5,000 foot look at what causes much of the pain and how to create a plan and structure to facilitate health.

Decision-Making Framework

One of the biggest challenges to any church plant journey is making the wise, strategic, and Jesus-honoring decisions. The hack to make better decisions more often is to think through “how” you’re making decisions and to develop a process for that. Our Decision-Making Framework has been used at both board and staff levels and while you’ll want to adjust your own version of this, this might be a helpful template.

Anchor %%Lexicon%%

Language creates culture and culture is, in large part, what a church planter is working on—whether they know it or not. At Anchor we have developed a lexicon that offers, on one page, the words we use and why we use them. We pull this out at staff meetings, Anchor Classes, and more. Again, not a carbon copy for all churches but a helpful template to send you in the right direction.

Terrible Beauty %%Chapter%%

Bryan (Anchor’s lead pastor) is in the process of writing a book about church planting that will weave practical insight into a memoir format. Take a look at the first chapter that is, admittedly, still in draft form, for some encouragement and insight into the initial steps of church planting.
