training, connecting, and resourcing church planters.

The Harbor/Base network is committed to training, connecting, and resourcing church planters and pastors towards effective and innovative mission and deep spiritual formation.

“HARBOR” - A PLACE OF SAFETY FROM A CHALLENGING ENVIRONMENT.

“BASE” - A PLACE OF PREPARATION FOR A CHALLENGING ENVIRONMENT.

Each week thousands upon thousands of Jesus-followers leave a church building, entering the “challenging environment” of the world.

A church that is just a harbor will emphasize depth but limit its mission. A church that is just a base will emphasize mission but will limit depth. Either way, the Church suffers. The call of Jesus is toward Harbor/Base communities. When a church is both a harbor and a base, emotional health, innovative mission, justice, grounded theology, and spiritual formation are all normative parts of our unflinching discipleship Jesus.

Joining the harbor/base network

essential convictions

Historic %%Orthodoxy%%

While it is a value to have a diversity of theological convictions within the Harbor/Base network, we expect a consensus on what the Church has held to as essential orthodoxy, as expressed in the Apostles’ Creed, as well as a belief in the authority of Scripture.

Openness to %%the Holy Spirit%%

We are convinced that both inner-healing and effective mission will not happen through human wisdom alone. In gatherings and training, we will facilitate space for the Holy Spirit heal, grow us in giftedness, and empower us for mission.

Commitment to %%Holistic Mission%%

An integration of winsome evangelism and profound social concern are essential to the Harbor/Base community.

Embrace of %%Spiritual Formation%%

The goal of all Jesus-followers is to be formed, increasingly, into the likeness of Jesus. This formation happens as we embrace spiritual practices and enter into relationships of discipleship and spiritual direction.
